The planting action carried our by Raben Group employees, local communities and the Aeris Futuro Foundation has become a company tradition. This time, the volunteers met in near the town of Krzywa in Beskid Niski to plant 1200 hornbeams, 800 Robinia pseudoacacia trees, and to put up a fence to protect the newly created forest from animals. The estimated accumulation of CO2 through the trees planted on October 20, 2018, is 150 tons.
“This year's planting took place in agricultural area of the former state-owned farm in Krzywa in the charming Beskid Niski. The goal of the action was to create the right conditions in the face of the changing climate. The belts of hornbeams will create natural barriers limiting wind in open spaces, help in shading and limiting evaporation and the trees will also retain rainwater. They will also be beneficial to birds and insects. Falling leaves will enrich the humus-poor mountain soil, thanks to which it will be possible to increase the biodiversity in this area. – says Joanna Mieszkowicz, President of the Aeris Futuro Foundation.
Planting trees is the the crowning achievement of the “e-invoice=higher culture” program in which Raben Group promotes ecological behaviours and shows its customers the advantages of electronic invoices over their paper equivalents. Each consent to accepting e-invoices means one tree planted on behalf of the customer. In 2017, as many as 2000 companies agreed to stop using paper invoices in favour of their electronic counterparts and, that is why, on 20 October 2018, the employees could plant that many trees on their behalf.
Planting trees together has become a tradition in Raben Group. Traditionally, this year's action involved employees accompanied by their families and friends. After hard work, all participants enjoyed the incentive bonfire.
