Raben Netherlands goes Live with Visual Localisation Studio from VLS

2015.02.20
Raben Netherlands has implemented a Visual Localisation Studio from VLS for its main hub location in Oss. The Visual Localisation Studio is an extensive Video Localisation Management System which enables Raben to control and optimize the handling of goods inside and outside the cross-dock and warehouse areas.
The construction and integration of the system with the existent camera system has taken nearly a month. At this time the site was fully operational of course. Still, this construction required approximately 6 kilometres of wire, hundreds of metres of cable trays, numerous switches, several servers and much more. The number of cameras is however unrevealed, due to security reasons.“This enhanced video system enables us to apply for the highest levels of certifications such as AEO and TAPA. But still, we’ve ensured the system to be extendable for future requirements,” said Steven Vossenaar, Quality & Risk Manager of Raben Netherlands. “After the time of selection and preparations, we are delighted now to have a system not only to investigate, but more importantly, to learn from the events on our cross-dock and warehouse floors. This investment will help us to ensure our customers continuous increase of quality of service. We are already looking forward to further integration of the system into our processes and systems.”The solution delivered for Raben Netherlands is the Flagship suite of VLS especially suitable for dense logistics operations. The system is designed to visualize and document in real-time dynamic logistics processes. It will be achieved through fully-managed integration of meaningful images with process data, status data and location information.“In Germany we have already equipped several sites of the Raben Group with our solutions. We are grateful that Raben has chosen our system for the implementation in the Netherlands as well,” said Udo Rieger, CEO of VLS Engineering GmbH. “The construction was done within the agreed planning, but we have not closed the project yet, as the system is being rolled out we will keep supporting Raben to make the maximum use of the capabilities of our solution.”“I am satisfied with the way we have implemented the system. We can constantly control and improve our logistics processes and will be able to provide our customers with information about shipments quickly. In addition, this allows us to noticeably improve our quality and efficiency ”, commented Sven Baars, Managing Director of Raben Netherlands.
